Pallets Type

A pallet is a horizontal platform, typically attached to a structure with a lower platform, which allows the sending of commercial goods in a stable manner, giving them a support that pallet trucks or forklifts and other lifting devices need to lift them.

Most pallets manufactured in the world are made of:

The palletizing process of the goods facilitates handling, saving time for loading, handling and unloading on the logistics platforms. In this way, there is also a reduction in the risk of damaging the goods in handling and optimization of storage space.

What kind of pallets are there in the world?

Different pallet sizes and typologies are used all over the world, for example: European pallets are different from American pallets, which in turn are different from pallets in Australia.

But with this diversity of sizes across different countries in the world, much progress has been made in relation to standardization and reuse of pallets.

This is mainly due to an increasingly global trade that requires the need to create "standard" dimensions of pallets referred to in the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) list that Portugal is part of.

The most used pallets in Portugal are 120 × 80cm (European pallet also called europallet) and 120 × 100cm (American / Universal or ISO pallet).
