EU–Mercosur trade

In 2024, EU trade with Mercosur reached more than €111 billion: €55.2 billion in exports and €56 billion in imports. More than 80% of trade flows were recorded between the EU and Brazil.

The EU is the second largest Mercosur partner in goods trade, representing almost 17% of Mercosur’s total trade in 2024. Mercosur is the EU’s tenth largest partner in goods trade.

Between 2014 and 2024, goods trade between the EU and Mercosur grew by more than 36%: imports increased by more than 50%, while exports increased by 25%.

Tariffs and market access

Tariff liberalisation: Mercosur will remove tariffs on 91% of EU imports, while the EU will eliminate tariffs on 95% of Mercosur imports, covering most goods trade.

Implementation timeline: Tariff elimination will be gradual, with the EU removing tariffs within up to 12 years and Mercosur within up to 15 years, allowing industrial adaptation.

Up to €4 billion per year in savings for European exporters through tariff reductions.
